The Most Work I’ve Done So Far

As the title suggests, today was the most work I’ve done so far: I finished tilling the upper garden by hand, pruned the Concord grapes, moved a few grape cuttings that had rooted, moved some other established grape vines, and finished chopping all the wood I have cut so far. Pretty busy…

Yesterday, I went to a meeting about the RBF Dome, which is the geodesic dome home of Buckminster Fuller, who is probably the most famous person associated with Carbondale. buckystamp1I like a lot of things about him, one of the bigger ones being that he lived his life with the following question in mind: “Does humanity have a chance to survive lastingly and successfully on planet Earth, and if so, how?” To that end, he popularized the geodesic dome, invented the Dymaxion car, and wrote numerous works like the “Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth.” He also documented his life every 15 minutes from 1915 to 1983. He called this the Dymaxion Chronofile and every piece of paper that touched his hands went into it (in addition to all the journals he took), giving him what is said to be the most documented human life in history. Anyways, the RBF Dome folks are trying to restore the dome as a means to generate tourism in the area.

I think that the ultimate answer to that question is “no; escape”.
