A Rainy Day and A Failure

It’s evening all afternoon here. It’s raining, and it’s going to rain, so I think I’m just going to putter around at home and update you on recent happenings. In the garden, the radishes are sprouting. A lot of the plants in flats are really sprouting or starting to take off. At the farm I’ve been chopping up a lot of wood, tilling the upper garden by hand, raking up more mulch, and doing a little planting.

As for the failure, I had some extra limestone from when I made the foundation for my cabin. I decided to add it to the check dams, but with the rain we’ve been getting lately, my limestone additions got busted up unless they were very large, like 2 feet wide at the base and 6 inches wide at the top. So if you’re planning on installing driveway-rock check dams on steep slopes, be sure that they’re at least that wide. = )
