A Good Day

Today I went to a meeting on growing plants for wildlife at the local U of I extension office. Then I got some planting done: beans, peas, corn, basil, cilantro, bee balm, nasturtiums, and marigolds. Holding the marigold seeds reminded me of planting those with my mom in our garden in Kingston back in the day. Awww shucks… I’ve been raking up lots of dead grass to use as mulch. I hope that this makeshift straw doesn’t have some sort of negative effect on the seeds germinating, but I guess we’ll see.

I’m also starting to wonder about what’s happening with me and ticks. My roommate keeps getting ticks on him, and when Elena was here, she got a lot as well. But so far, I haven’t found a single one on me. Either I’m not looking very well or they don’t like the taste of me.
